Wat is Tabs Mini Hub?

Tabs Mini Hub is a een LoRa gateway that can be used for any Spacewell LoRa device to connect to the waarmee elk Spacewell LoRa-apparaat verbinding kan maken met het Workplace Platform.

Tabs Mini hubs connect to an existing (guest) Wifi or seperate wifi network, analog to ethernet and VLANs.Since the data between the sensors and the hub is communicated over LoRa network, we assume the impact of this device on the WiFi network will be max 250MB/hub/month.

Depending on the environment main location, Spacewell Workplace tenants are created in an EU- or US-environment. Hence, for some ports to be opened, the destination address might be a different oneons datawarehouse.

Als je met een 4G-router (hotspot) , no ports need to be opened on the network, as they will be open on the router. This way, you can set up a system that is completely disconnected from the existing IT infrastructure.

How to Activate the Hub

  • Press the reset button (small button at the back of the gateway next to the USB-C port) for 5 seconds until the LED blinks rapidly GREEN<->RED for a couple of times.

  • Hold the SETUP (button at the top of the gateway, next to the LED) for 10 seconds until the LED blinks rapidly in RED.

  • The gateway now exposes a WiFi AP whose SSID is MINIHUB-xxxxxx where xxxxxx is the last 6 digits of the gateway ID.

  • The password for this network is printed on the back panel of the device under WiFi PW.

    De hub activeren

    1. Druk 5 seconden op de resetknop (kleine knop aan de achterkant van de gateway naast de USB-C poort) totdat de LED een paar keer snel GROEN<->ROOD knippert.

    2. Houd SETUP (knop bovenaan de gateway, naast de LED) 10 seconden ingedrukt tot de LED snel ROOD knippert.

    3. De gateway stelt nu een WiFi AP beschikbaar waarvan de SSID MINIHUB-xxxxxx is, waarbij xxxxxx de laatste 6 cijfers van de gateway ID zijn.

    4. Het wachtwoord voor dit netwerk staat op het achterpaneel van het apparaat onder WiFi PW.

    5. Nadat je verbinding hebt gemaakt met dit netwerk ga je met een webbrowser naar 192.168.4.1 using a web browser to access the WiFi config page:

    6. Select the WiFi network and enter the password if it’s a closed network.

    7. Select the “Save and Reboot” option.

    8. If your config is right, the gateway will blink GREEN for a few seconds while it connects to this network.

    9. Then, it will blink GREEN<->RED for a few seconds while it connects to the CUPS endpoint and fetches the necessary information to connect to the LNS traffic endpoint.

    10. If your configuration was successful, the LED will be solid GREEN which means that the gateway is connected to the LoRaWAN network and is ready to handle packets. Your Spacewell Implementation Consultant can confirm if the gateway is connecting to the Workplace platform (see om de WiFi configuratiepagina te openen:

    1. Configuratiemodus (CONF)

      1. In this mode, the device acts as a WiFi AP to which users can connect and configure a WiFi
        network(s) to which the gateway will connect to during normal operation. The device cannot
        route LoRaWAN packets in this mode.

    2. Gateway Mode (GW)

      1. In this mode, the device acts as a gateway to route traffic between the LoRaWAN Device
        and the Network. The WiFi AP for configuration is not available in this mode.

    There are three possible button actions on the the Tabs Mini Hub

    1. SETUP Button pressed for 10s:

      1. Switch to CONF mode if in GW mode.

    2. SETUP Button pressed for 5s:

      1. Reboot if in CONF mode, do nothing in GW mode

    3. RESET Button pressed for 5s:

      1. Factory reset (wipe out WiFi and LNS credentials, though CUPS credentials are retained).

    Troubleshooting

    1. Are you sure the correct ports were opened on the network?

    2. Check the LED lights

    3. Make sure there are not typos in the hub board ID (ask customer to take a picture of the sticker at the back of the device)

    4. Check if the hub is connected to the correct network (on the switch)

    5. Check if there is network connectivity on the patch in the switch (aka: connect the cable of the patch to your pc)

    6. Replace a non-working hub with one that is confirmed working

      1. If the non-working one is connected to the patch of the working one and this works: there is an issue with the patch/switch

      2. If the working one is connected to the patch of the non-working one and this works: there is an issue with the hub

    Hub provisioning

    If your hub is not showing up on

    Knopacties

    Er zijn drie mogelijke knopacties op de Tabs Mini Hub

    1. SETUP-knop 10 seconden ingedrukt:

      1. Schakel over naar CONF-modus als je in GW-modus bent.

    2. SETUP-knop gedurende 5 seconden ingedrukt:

      1. Herstart in CONF-modus, doe niets in GW-modus

    3. RESET-knop 5s ingedrukt:

      1. Fabrieksreset (verwijdert WiFi- en LNS-referenties, maar CUPS-referenties blijven behouden).

    Problemen oplossen

    1. Weet je zeker dat de juiste poorten zijn geopend op het netwerk?

    2. Controleer de LED-lampjes

    3. Controleer of er geen typefouten staan in de naafkaart-ID (vraag de klant om een foto te maken van de sticker aan de achterkant van het apparaat)

    4. Controleer of de hub is aangesloten op het juiste netwerk (op de switch)

    5. Controleer of er netwerkconnectiviteit is op de patch in de switch (aka: sluit de kabel van de patch aan op je pc)

    6. Vervang een niet-werkende naaf door een waarvan is bevestigd dat deze werkt

      1. Als de niet-werkende wordt aangesloten op de patch van de werkende en dit werkt: dan is er een probleem met de patch/schakelaar.

      2. Als de werkende wordt aangesloten op de patch van de niet-werkende en dit werkt: dan is er een probleem met de hub

    Hub-voorziening

    Als uw hub niet wordt weergegeven op /wiki/spaces/KB/pages/492072, make sure to communicate both the device EUI and the "WiFi password" (authentication code; that is printed on the sticker on the back of the device) to the Spacewell support team.

    The Device EUI is the first number (58A0…) mentioned on the sticker.

    Zorg ervoor dat u zowel de EUI van het apparaat als het "WiFi-wachtwoord" (verificatiecode; deze staat op de sticker op de achterkant van het apparaat) doorgeeft aan het Spacewell supportteam.

    De EUI van het apparaat is het eerste nummer (58A0...) dat op de sticker staat.
