No actions needed on TTN platform

Tracknet Tabs sensor communicate through encrypted LoRa with the hub, who will send the data to The Things Network (TTN) (LoRa platform).

  • the sensors cannot be configured on TTN platform
  • the data is automatically forwarded to Cobundu

Motion sensor – PIR

This sensor can not be configured on TTN.

Legacy (from before 2020 // for use without caps):

  • There are 5 different parameters that effect the behaviour of a TrackNet motion sensor. Sensitivity, Blind time, pulse counter, window time, and filter type.

  • Each of these parameters can be altered by sending a downlink to the sensor from the trackio platform.

  • For calculating the downlink code use the latest version of the downlink encryption sheet.

  • For configuring multiple sensors at once use the latest version of the downlink configuration program.

Healthy home – Comfort

This sensor can not be configured on TTN.

Door & Window switch

This sensor can not be configured on TTN.

Deploy sensors in Studio

Inquire the list of the sensors (Device ID)

You can either check for Tab sensor IDs with your customer or you can request in your MCS ticket following the hardware shipment (ref /wiki/spaces/PS/pages/491728) from which boxes were the sensors taken?
In the following documents, you will find inventory files. Sensors are treated First In First Out.

If you just filter on the box numbers you’ll see all the sensors in that box.

Learning Objectives

After reading this article, you’ll be able to:

  • Set up an excel that makes it’s really easy for the installer to provide location installation information

  • Use an excel sheet for batch upload of many sensors

Some projects include HUGE amounts of sensors - having the installer paste the stickers-with-sensor-ID on the sensor plan and manually taking it from there might be very time consuming.
If your project has more than (tabs) 50 or 100 sensors, you might consider using excel.

This page describes how to set up an excel that installers can use to quickly enter the (correct) device ID. At the end of an installation day, you will have an excel sheet that contains device ID and location information, allowing you to easily add multiple new devices to Studio.

Prerequisites

Set up location master data in IWMS. We’ll need the location unique ID for upload in Studio, but probably the location is known to the customer with “nicer” reference. For example, a meeting room might be called “Louvre”, but unique ID in this case is 910000000007087.

Inquire the list of possible sensors

Most sensors are shipped directly from the manufacturer.

Only for Tabs sensors, your Spacewell Implementation Consultant will be able to indicate which device IDs were shipped (see Tabs hardware inventory files). For them to check this, please communicate box number / cartonID. This is a unique identification number per cardboard box.

Note

There are tabs 100 sensors in 1 box, so in case your

shipment does not

...

include a multiple of 100, some IDs mentioned in

the provided list

might not belong to

you.

Prepare Import Excel

Provide the rooms template and floor plans to the customer: A clear indication of the area where the sensors must/will be installed.
As described in the installation guide, make sure to have the stickers or clearly take note of the 8 last digits of the sensor number in “Device ID #” column.
Concerning the TAB sensor, be aware that there are 2 numbers on a sensor, the ID that starts with 58-A0-CB-00 is the one that we need during the configuration.

There are no cartonIDs available for the US.

Prepare Excel

Start by downloading following template:

View file
nameSensor mapping template.xlsx

Expand
title1. Prepare Location Master data
  1. Export location master data from IWMS.

  2. Use this location master data to fill in tab ROOMS of this file.

  3. Leave columns "Sensor" and "OK?" as-is for now.

Info

Make sure to include any data that is relevant for the installation team (for example location ID and location references, building and floor references, classification of the room etc)

Expand
title2. Inquire relevant Sensor IDs

Provided with the CartonID, the Spacewell Implementation Consultant can check Tabs hardware inventory files and export the valid sensor IDs.

  1. Import relevant sensor IDs to column C "Sensor IDs" on tab SENSOR IDS of this file.

  2. In doing so, column A "last 4 digits" will show the last 4 digits of the sensor IDs provided in column C.

Expand
title3. Map Sensor ID with location to get immediate feedback if possible ID

Next to everything described in the sensors specific installation guides and Checklist for hardware installation , provide the installer with

  • the sensor plan

  • an indication of location names (for example meeting room reference or workplace number)

  • your prepared excel sheet

Info

Check for the correct Device ID.

  • A sensor might list more information than needed. Check the Install & Configure Gateways & Sensors pages to know which format the sensor ID should resemble.

  • A Sensor ID might have a different format than what is required in Studio. Check the Install & Configure Gateways & Sensors pages to know how to modify the sensor ID.

  • Verify for typos, eg Tabs motion sensor ID is in HEX, so only 0-9; A-F characters are used. All letters are in CAPS

Upon batch Import: only successful rows are imported. Rejected due to errors will not be imported.
Please be aware that only after the next data package is send, data for this sensor will be visible in your tenant. (This means that depending on time of upload to Bohemian and activity at the customer site, this can take a while.)

Manually Add New Device in Studio

You can manually add a record via "Add New Device"

...

Image Removed

‪Manually add device through location > devices > new: location is filled in.
‪Select Device Type. This will automatically link the device channel (eg PIR for motion sensors).

In case of generic sensors, use Advanced to select relevant channels. Advanced is still under construction.

Enter Device ID as mentioned on the sensor.

Enter a meaningful Device Name (eg customer_floor number_area).

Select a Location from the location tree if this is already known.

Next to the already selected (main) Room, you can visualize the incoming data on other, Linked Locations. Imagine having 1 comfort sensor in an open office space and you want to visualize this data on all 8 workplaces in that space: Linked Location needs to contain all 8 workplaces.

Motion sensor – PIR

Selecting the correct Device Type "TrackNet-Motion-v1.3" should automatically set the Channel to "pir" and Type to "Presence".

Image Removed

Healthy home – Comfort

Selecting the correct Device Type "TrackNet-Humidity-v1.3" should automatically set

  • the Channel to "humidity" and Type to "Humidity"
  • the Channel to "temperature" and Type to "Temperature"

Door & Window switch

Selecting the correct Device Type "TrackNet-DoorWindow-v1.3" should automatically set the Channel to "open" and Type to "Pulse".

(some background info: Door counter sensors can come in 2 ways:

  • pulse = sensor sends "pulses" to Cobundu, and Cobundu must count how many pulses have been made
  • counter = sensor sends counter value to Cobundu - and this value used
Tracknet DoorCounter only sends pulses; whereas Sensative Strip Configuration Guide can be set up in both 2 ways: counter value or pulses are supported)

Quality Assurance

...

Upon installation, fill in the last 4 digits of the sensor ID into column "Sensor ID" in the ROOMS tab.

  • If these 4 last digits are part of the available sensor list, they will appear in the column "OK?"

  • If these 4 last digits are not part of the available sensor list, the column "OK?" will state "NA"

  • If these 4 last digits are part of the available sensor list, but are already referenced somewhere in this mapping list, the column "OK?" will turn red

title5. Import in Workplace back-end Studio
