Technical Requirements of the Hub
Open ports 7007; 8881-8887 in the firewall. These ports only need an outbound connection.
You can find a table listing the IP addresses that outgoing traffic (sensor data) goes to for the Point grab devices here: List of IP addresses for outgoing traffic
(if you work with a 4G router (hotspot), client does not need to open ports, as they are open on the router. This way, you can set up a system that is completely disconnected from the existing IT infrastructure)
How to Activate the Hub
- Press the reset button (small button at the back of the gateway next to the USB-C port) for 5 seconds until the LED blinks rapidly GREEN<->RED for a couple of times.
- Hold the SETUP (button at the top of the gateway, next to the LED) for 10 seconds until the LED blinks rapidly in RED.
- The gateway now exposes a WiFi AP whose SSID is MINIHUB-xxxxxx where xxxxxx is the last 6 digits of the gateway ID.
- The password for this network is printed on the back panel of the device under WiFi PW.
- After connecting to this network go to 192.168.4.1 using a web browser to access the WiFi config page:
Select the WiFi network and enter the password if it’s a closed network.
Select the “Save and Reboot” option.
If your config is right,
The gateway will blink GREEN for a few seconds while it connects to this network.
Then, it will blink GREEN<->RED for a few seconds while it connects to the CUPS
endpoint and fetches the necessary information to connect to the LNS traffic
endpoint.If your configuration was successful, the LED will be solid GREEN which means that the
gateway is connected to the LoRaWAN network and is ready to handle packets.

Operating Modes
- Configuration Mode (CONF)
In this mode, the device acts as a WiFi AP to which users can connect and configure a WiFi
network(s) to which the gateway will connect to during normal operation. The device cannot
route LoRaWAN packets in this mode.
- Gateway Mode (GW)
In this mode, the device acts as a gateway to route traffic between the LoRaWAN Device
and the Network. The WiFi AP for configuration is not available in this mode.

Ethernet connected Hub - no longer available
During the installation process changes will be made to the firewall. Therefore, it is advised to contact your IT-department our network specialist.
Step 1. Place the hubs at the location that was provided to you by the project engineer. In the case that no location was provided or the location is not accessible find a nearby or central location equipped with an ethernet connection and wall wart. E.g. in the gap of a raised ceiling or in the IT room.
Caution! The hub must never be unplugged after installation. Choose a location where accidental unplugging will not occur.
Step 2. Open the following ports in the firewall. These ports only need an outbound connection.
Caution! The hubs are using load balancing techniques, no fixed endpoint can be set.

We sync all our hubs to the same open NTP (network time protocol) servers so we have consistent timings in our data warehouse. How to use below table
Depending on the environment main location, Spacewell Workplace tenants are created in an EU- or US-environment. Hence, for some ports to be opened, the destination address might be a different one:

Step 3. Connect the hub

Step 4. Let your Cobundu PE check the connection of the hub
on the cloud platform
Ethernet hub (via 4G) - no longer available
Step 1. Place the hubs and 4G routers at the location that was provided to you by the project engineer. In the case that no location was provided or the location is not accessible find a nearby or central location equipped with a wall wart and decent reception.
Caution! The hub and 4G router must never be unplugged after installation. Choose a location where accidental unplugging will not occur.
Step Step 2. Assemble the 4G router
Step 2.1 Make sure all antennas are installed and are screwed in finger tight.
Step 2.2 Connect the power cable
Step 2.3 Plug in the power adapter
Step 2.4 Power on the 4G router
Step 2.5 Check the 4G connectivity
If the signal is too weak relocate the 4G router
Step 2.6 Check internet availability by connecting a PC or laptop to the router
and opening a webpage

Step 3.1 Connect the ethernet cable to the blue port

Step 3.2 Connect the other end of the ethernet cable
to the 4G router
Step 3.3 Connect the power cable

Ethernet LED The ethernet LED shows the connectivity status between the Hub and the Platform Off: No network → Check if the ethernet cable is plugged in on both ends. Blue port for the Hub. LoRa LED The LoRa LED shows the readiness of receiving messages from the sensors. The hub will not accept messages if it is not connected to the platform Off: Not ready → Check connection to platform Green: Ready
WI-FI LED The hubs are preconfigured not to send out any wifi signals. The light may turn on during initial boot but will turn itself off after configuration is loaded.

Can I reset the hub?
Yes, Press the reset button located between the power and blue ethernet until the power LED start flashing orange/green (approx. 20 seconds)The hub will reset back to the original MCS configuration, this can take up to 20 minutes.

Can I configure the firewall with a fixed endpoint or IP?
No, the hubs are configured to connect to load balancers. The end points of these load balancers can and will change over time.
Can the Hub be configured with a fixed IP address?
Yes, but this is not in the standard scope. The configuration of a fixed IP is only possible using ethernet and has to be performed by a project engineer on site. This brings additional costs and will alter the project timeline.
Can the Hub connect over WIFI?
Yes, but this is not in the standard scope. The configuration of a WIFI connectivity is only possible using DHCP and has to be performed by a project engineer on site. This brings additional costs and will alter the project timeline. Can the sensors be installed before the Hub?
No, always wait for the confirmation of the project engineer.
When a tab hub (not mini) does not come online, you might be requested to manually update the hub firmware on site: check out the following page on (new) Manually Update Ethernet Hub* Firmware TTES (direct via LAN), describing the steps to take.
Tape placement
For sensor installation (motion, comfort, door counter), we advise using double sided tape.
At Spacewell, we always use double sided tape from brand Tesa Powerbond Ultra Strong (5m * 19mm) for the motion sensors. This tape is strong and works for all the different types of sensors.
We estimate that you use 3-5cm per sensor, and 6cm for a door counter (2 parts for 1 sensor). So, you can probably hang roughly 100 sensors per roll.
Best practice:
- Tape: Press the tape in the crook of the sensor to ensure good adhesion / bigger surface area

Healthy Home – Comfort
Along side this installation guide, you will receive a table per floor for sensor mapping. This table consists out of a column with "Workplace/Room number" and a blank column "Sensor ID". The latter most be filled in by the installer (on paper or digital) during the installation. The Sensor ID can be found on the side of a sensor. It is a 16 (Hexadecimal) digit long number starting with 58A0. Writing down the last 8 digits, indicated by the blue box, in the column is sufficient.
Preparation of the sensor
Place 2 pieces of adhesive tape on the side of the sensor on the side with tabs embossed.
Caution! Do not place any tape on the sticker side.
When installing the sensor make sure the intake (round air slots) are not obstructed. Preferably place the sensor next to a light switch or an HVAC control unit
→ Idea is to grasp the temperature at breast/head-height (“as the end-user would interpret the temperature”; knowing that heat rises).
Use common sense and do not hang them over a heating body, in direct sunlight, next to a heating vent, behind a smart board / tv, deep in open cupboards (where they can be blocked by items) etc …
Installation of the sensor
Before installing the sensor take note of the sensor id in the table at the place of installation. Do this by writing down the last 8 digits (blue box 1).
Remove the clear battery strip to power up the sensor (red box 2).
During installation, it's important to clean the installation surface to remove dust particles which have a great influence on the strength of the adhesive bond. This can be done using a simple dust cloth.
Once the surface is clean, remove the adhesive tape cover and mount the sensor on the desired location.
Press the sensor firmly for 5 seconds against the installation surface.
Door & Window switch

When installing the sensor and magnet make sure the door will not be blocked by either part. Place the magnet on the door itself. Place the sensor on the door frame with the LED facing towards the magnet.

WiFi Configuration
If WiFi needs to be turned off (recommended), please follow these steps:
Configuring the Hub will let you set up the Hub as a router, WIFI client, WIFI extender, or WIFI off. It will also let you choose between DHCP and Static IP for ethernet based connections.
Step 1. Check the firmware version
Step 1.1 Join the hubs initial open Wi-Fi network (Tabs-xxxxxxx) or connect the hub with a LAN cable (plugged into a black port) to your computer
Step 1.2 Open the Tabs (Tracknet) configuration guide
