Understand the object model within Workplace
Workplace Object model
There are currently more than 500 objects available in Workplace, some examples of objects are Request, Contract, WorkOrder, Reservation, Property, Area, Asset, Invoice, etc.
Each unique appearance of an object is called an instance. Whenever we create a new instance of an object in Workplace, the reference will be automatically generated and is an unique identifier of the object. For Properties this could look like: PRP-000001, PRP-000002, PRP-000003.
Relevant properties of objects are stored in fields.
Object Person: possible fields are name, gender
Object Properties: Possible fields are name, type (“office building”)
Object Assets: possible fields are type (“beamer”), brand
Objects in Workplace can be linked to other objects by using Id fields. For more info on this check out Linking via id-fields + magnifying glass.
Objects can have categories, which predefine the way the instance page will look, what workflow will be used etc. For more info about categories check out Categories and fields.
