  • Interpret Footfall data on Space Monitor Dashboard

To obtain footfall data, a sensor like Pointgrab or Xovis needs to be configured in footfall mode.

Configuration

  1. Configuration on sensor platform: according to description, see Install & Configure Gateways & Sensors

  2. Configuration on Workplace platform:

    1. defined count area needs to be linked to a location for data capture

      1. location needs to be in scope of https://spacewell.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/KB/pages/276168921/Dashboard+settings#Space-Category-Mapping

      2. location needs to have capacity details configured to see utilization details

    2. location may or may not be visualized on a floorplan

      1. if not visualized: data is still available in dashboard, but not possible to select through floor plan

      2. also possible to visualize data in a polygon “outside” of the floor

Footfall information

Footfall mode provides information on how many people cross a(n imaginary) line in one direction (footfall in) and in another direction (footfall out).

This data we see on the live floor plan View By as

  • In/out traffic: Footfall IN and Footfall OUT values

  • Total traffic: sum of in + out traffic details

The above values are reset at midnight local time.

For more information, see View By Space > "In/out traffic" & "Total traffic"

Utilization information

During the whole time where traffic data IN value is higher than OUT value, not only utilization is calculated (as the difference between the two values), but also the location is tracked as “presence detected” (occupancy: yes). During this time, the location will be visualized as an “occupied” location on the floor plan.

For more information, see View By Space > "Utilization"

In Space Monitor Dashboard

Because presence is detected for that (virtual) location, the occupancy data will also reflect on the dashboard.

If the traffic sensor is monitoring the entry to a meeting room, cafeteria or another closed location, this can easily be compared to all other locations on the floor plan that are tracked with headcount sensors.

Yet if the traffic sensor is monitoring the entry to a building or floor, keep in mind that the location will probably be visualized as the most “occupied” location on the floor (compared to occupancy measured for other locations on the floor).

Good to know

In an ideal scenario, traffic sensor is monitoring the entry to a meeting room, cafeteria or another closed location.

When the traffic sensor is monitoring the entry to a building or floor, keep in mind:

  • the location will probably be visualized as the most “occupied” location on the floor (if occupancy is also measured for other locations on the floor)

  • capacity of the traffic location will be added to the overall “# Meeting Room Seats” on Space Monitor > Utilization sheet.
