Airthings sensors measure air quality, and with this data they calculate the approximate headcount in a closed room.

We now support this data coming from Airthings, we consider this to be a approximate and indirect and utilization

  • As a facility manager with Airthings sensors

  • I want to know how approx. how many people are in the room without needing another sensor

  • So that I can simplify my hardware roll-out

Benefits

Being able to track utilization through a comfort sensor allows for only 1 sensor instead of 2 (comfort + headcount)

Is it Accurate?

‪So far, the accuracy we tested was not satisfactory.
Unlike headcount sensors (with 90-95% accuracy), measuring utilization with Airthings is around 40-60% accurate*

*based on our findings so far, the accuracy could be better with further testing in optimal conditions

Accuracy of the data depends on

  • Device placement

  • Room shape

  • Room size

  • Number of people in the room

  • Ventilation system & temperature gradients (mixing of air)
