All of the below gateways can be used together with all LoRa based devices: The gateways/hubs are actually just LoRa gateways and can hence also connect other LoRa devices (eg Elsys CO2 sensors or Sensative Strips also connect to the same gateway). In the future more LoRa devices can work on the same LoRa network.

→ They can all join on one happy private Lora network – you can mix all types of sensors and you can also mix different LoRa gateways in the same network.

You can find more information about the above on Sensor troubleshooting guide

Installation location

Make sure to have a look at Checklist hardware on-site visit /or installation before going on site.

Taken into account metal beams, concrete layers etc, through which a gateway might not be able to cover the whole floor of your building. So the reach highly depends on the walls and construction, yet we can assume a diameter of 50m with approx area of 2000m.

Additionally, the Lora signal also reaches upwards and downwards.

Having 1 Lora gateway on every floor, zig zagging across the building (see below image) is the best practice for a good coverage. With this setup, a sensor is usually always picked up by at least 2 gateways to avoid any data package loss.

Adeunis Field Tester can help in finding the best gateway installation location might be difficult if there is a lot of metal or if it’s a large floor.

Info

Make sure to discuss possible (different) installation locations: hidden in the ceiling, in a printer/server room, in the cupboard of the receptionist, ...
