A multilingual platform
Workplace is a multilingual platform that comes pre-configured with several languages as standard. This allows different users to display the content in their preferred language. Some of the functionalities in Workplace are dependent on these language settings. For example:
Field, button, and report labels will be translated to the language of the user.
Emails can be send to users depending on their language settings.
Adjusting language settings on for a user
Changing the language settings of your profile can be done in two simple steps.
Access the profile settings via the Profile picture > Profile.
Change the language settings via General > Language.
How to recognize a field that allows a translation string
In most cases fields, button, and other elements will be translated without intervention of the system admin or user. Some fields however, allow the creation of a translation string. Fields that allow for translations strings can be recognized by the speech balloon. These fields are often the names fields on an instance page,
Create and use a translation strings
In order to tell Workplace to translate this field when the language settings are changed, a small letter must be entered as the first letter. If you do not want this field to be translated, the first letter must be a capital letter.
Check if a translation string already exists
It is possible to check if the translation of a specific word exists in the environment by pressing the speech bubble after filling in the word.
If the field remains white, there is a translation for this specific word in the environment.
If the field turns yellow, no translation string exists yet for this word.
Create new translation string and corresponding translations
There are two ways of creating a new translation string.
The translation page is accessed directly via the double speech bubble on the field (the icon on the right). new translation string is easily created by pressing the double speech icon.
Or it can be accessed via navigation menu under: Configuration > Translations > new.
After the translation string is created, the translations can be added in all required languages. To create a new translation:
make sure you are in the translation string (see screenshot)
press New
Choose the language from the drop down menu
Fill in the translation in the translation field

Look up translations
Via the menu option Admin > Translations, system admins can look up all the translation strings (also known as 'translation keys') in the environment.
By pressing the ‘Reverse search translation’ button on the top right of the search screen you can search for the translation (for example in the Dutch language) instead of searching on the translation string.

Workplace Management is een meertalige applicatie die vooraf geconfigureerd is met verschillende standaardtalen. Hierdoor kunnen verschillende gebruikers de inhoud weergeven in de taal van hun voorkeur.
In Workplace Management worden de paginavelden, knoppen, navigatiemenu's, rapporten, enz. allemaal vertaald naar de taal van de gebruiker. Standaard workflow e-mails die vanuit Workplace Management worden verstuurd, zijn ook in de taal van de gebruiker.
Vertaalsleutels en vertaalstrings
In Workplace Management zijn er vertaalsleutels en vertaalstrings, die worden gebruikt om de applicatie-elementen (knoppen, labels, tekst, enz.) in de gewenste taal weer te geven. Een vertaalsleutel is een kleine letter zonder spaties (bijvoorbeeld 'voorbeeld_vertaling'). Aan deze vertaalsleutel zijn meerdere vertaalstrings gekoppeld voor elke gewenste/relevante taal. De bovenstaande vertaalsleutel heeft bijvoorbeeld de volgende vertaalstrings:
Engels: Voorbeeld vertaling
Nederlands: Voorbeeldvertaling
Duits: Beispielübersetzung
Frans: Voorbeeld van vertaling
enz.
Dus als de vertaalsleutel 'example_translation' wordt gebruikt als label voor een paginaveld, bepaalt de taal van de gebruiker welke van de bovenstaande vertaalstrings wordt weergegeven.

Een beheerder heeft de optie om bijkomende vertaalstrings te maken (in andere talen) of om reeds bestaande vertaalstrings te overschrijven om een standaard vertaalde tekst te wijzigen.
Vertalingen zoeken
Via het startbord van applicatiebeheerders (beheerdersniveau 1) kunnen de vertalingen worden opgezocht via de knop 'Vertalingen'.

Voer de vertaling (string) en de taal in om de gewenste vertaling te vinden.
Bestaande vertaalstrings overschrijven
Na het selecteren van een vertaalsleutel worden alle beschikbare vertaalstrings weergegeven in een lijst:

Selecteer de vertalingen die je wilt overschrijven en klik op 'Geselecteerde items overschrijven'. De geselecteerde vertaalstrings worden nu naar de clientomgeving gekopieerd als aangepaste clientvertaalstrings en kunnen naar wens worden ingevoerd.

Vanaf nu worden de aangepaste vertalingen van de klant gebruikt voor de van toepassing zijnde vertaalsleutel.

Bij het invoeren van een vertaalsleutel in een veld (met vertalingen ingeschakeld), kan de gebruiker via het ballonpictogram controleren of de vertaalsleutel en overeenkomstige vertaalstrings al bestaan. Wees voorzichtig bij het wijzigen van een bestaande vertaalsleutel, want de wijzigingen hebben ook invloed op andere plaatsen in Workplace Management waar de vertaalsleutel oorspronkelijk werd gebruikt. |
