Work with test emails in backup/test servers
What is email testing
The setting to turn on email testing is used in backup/test environments to verify emails that are send out in workflows or through functions. Using this functionality we can verify templates and check parameters. The reason we have this setting is because emails are not sent out in testing/backup servers by default and can therefore not be checked or analysed.
In the production environment on the contrary, emails are always sent out to the relevant contacts which is not what you want when testing a new/ altered template.

Enabling sending emails on Backup or Test
To find email testing settings:
Navigate to the backup or test environment. Read the Infrastructure basics article for more information on logging into these environments.
Press the ‘Client settings’ button on the starboard.
Navigate to the Email tab.
All three settings in the table below need to be filled in to enable email testing.

If set to yes, emails will be send out in the backup/test environment you are in.

The end time for test mails, after this time no more emails will be sent. If no time is specified no emails will be sent.

Recipient for testing

The single recipient that will receive all mails. Usually you use your own contact for this.
Testing emails is only possible in backup or test servers. To find out how to navigate to your environment’s backup/test server go to How to login.
How to use email testing?
After filling in all the mandatory settings, all emails will be send out to the 'Recipient for testing'.
The email that you receive contains [AXXERION-TESTMAIL] in the title indicating that it concerns a test mail.
If you want to test a (workflow) email, simply follow the process, same as you would on production. For example, create, submit, and approve a reservation. All emails send from this workflow will end up in the email registered on the contact of the system admin you are using.

E-mails op back-up- en testservers
Standaard worden e-mails niet verzonden op de back-up- en testserver, maar dit kan worden ingeschakeld via een instelling die de optie geeft om alle e-mails gedurende een bepaalde periode naar een specifiek e-mailadres te verzenden.
De instelling om e-mailtests in te schakelen kan worden gebruikt in back-up-/testomgevingen om e-mails te controleren/testen die worden verzonden in workflows of via functies.
In de productieomgeving daarentegen worden e-mails altijd verzonden naar de relevante contactpersonen, wat niet is wat je wilt als je een nieuwe/gewijzigde sjabloon test.

E-mails verzenden inschakelen bij Back-up of Test
De instellingen voor het testen van e-mail inschakelen:
Navigeer naar de back-up- of testomgeving. Lees de Infrastructure basics (cluster and servers) artikel voor meer informatie over het aanmelden bij deze omgevingen.
Druk op de knop 'Clientinstellingen' aan stuurboord.
Navigeer naar het tabblad E-mail.
Alle drie de instellingen in de onderstaande tabel moeten worden ingevuld e-mail testen inschakelen.

Eindtijd van testen | De eindtijd voor testmails, na deze tijd worden er geen e-mails meer verstuurd. Als er geen tijd wordt opgegeven, worden er geen e-mails verzonden. |
Ontvanger voor testen | De enkele ontvanger die alle e-mails ontvangt. Meestal gebruik je hiervoor je eigen contactpersoon. |
Hoe e-mailtests gebruiken
Na het invullen van alle verplichte instellingen worden alle e-mails verzonden naar de 'Ontvanger voor testen'.
De e-mail die u ontvangt bevat [AXXERION-TESTMAIL] in de titel om aan te geven dat het om een testmail gaat.
Als u een (workflow)e-mail wilt testen, volgt u gewoon het proces zoals u dat ook in productie zou doen. Bijvoorbeeld een reservering maken, indienen en goedkeuren. Alle e-mails die vanuit deze workflow worden verzonden, komen terecht in de e-mail die is geregistreerd bij het contact van de systeembeheerder die u gebruikt.
