  • Customize the corporate identity of an environment


What is a corporate identity?

The corporate identity is there to apply the company colors (and logo) to a Workplace environment. By configuring the corporate identity, we can apply a custom logo and also give the opportunity to color the menu’s and headers to the client’s needs.

For our Workplace training environment we use the default Spacewell colors scheme, for example:

  1. Press the ‘Client settings’ button on the startBoard)

  2. Click on the ‘Interface’ tab.

  3. Navigate to the Corporate current identity by clicking the magnifying glass next to the field

  4. Note: if one of the default corporate identity is set all fields are grey. The default cannot be edited. If this case please create and apply a new corporate identity.

Keep in mind: the identities shown in this list are all baseline identities that are set to available. All other identities can be found in the settings page → tab interface → speaker icon in the top right corner.

Create and set a new corporate identity

  1. Press the ‘Client settings’ button on the startBoard) or via the navigation menu > Admin > Setup)

  2. Click on the Interface tab.

  3. Navigate to the Corporate identity > press the '>' behind the field > press the '…' that now appear.

    1. Note: it is also possible that no Corporate identity si specified, in which case you can directly click the '…'.

  4. Now create a new corporate identity by:

    1. pressing the '+' on the top right, OR;

    2. press ‘Search’ > open an existing corporate identity > press the duplicate icon on the top right of the page.

  5. Give the new corporate identity a name.

  6. You can now configure and test the new corporate identity.

  7. To apply the new corporate identify set the new corporate identity in the Corporate identity field on the Interface tab.
    Tip: only set the new corporate identity, when you’ve tested it thoroughly.

We can set a corporate identity per user profile: Navigate to the user profile you wish to set the corporate identity for, on the user profile page there is a field: corporate identity where a identity can be selected. This will be used for all users within this user profile.

In the picture we can distinguish between the different color options. Aside from picking a color using the color wheel, Workplace also accepts color codes.

Keep in mind that the Third color, for now, has no function. All other colors can be traced back from the picture, the hyperlink color is used for some of the text shown in the headers (also shown in the picture).

Description

Name

Every Corporate identity needs a name or it will not be available to use.

Published version

Status of the published version. Before being able to use the corporate identity it needs to be published by clicking on Publish trial version.

Trial version

Status of the trial version, to view the trial version click Preview trial version.

First color

The top header.

Second color

The Navigationmenu.

Third color

Currently has no function.

Fourth color

The sub header.

Hyperlink color

Header text.

Skin items allow you to further customize the corporate identity. To add a skin item:

  1. Click ‘new’ in the skin item include;

  2. Set the Logical color (explained in more detail below);

  3. Pick a Color;

  4. OK.

  5. Continue as usual to view/ publish the corporate identity.

Note: logical colors other than we explained in the table above are experimental and most likely will not work yet.

 Add a logo

To add a logo click the paperclip icon:

To add a logo to your environment it needs to meet a number of requirements.

  • It must be an .png or .svg file.

  • Support transparency.

  • The number of pixels must be 4:1 (e.g. width 400px and height 100px).

  • The maximum size of the image is 640px by 160px.

  • The minimum size of the image is 160px by 40px.

Info: The logo can also be changed in the settings → interface → logo.

 View/publish the corporate identity

View/ publish the corporate identity

After changing the settings of the corporate identity it can be previewed:

  1. Click ‘Preview trial version’. The status of the Trial version will now switch to 'Ready for publication'.

  2. To preview the settings, refresh the page by clicking on the refresh button on your browser or press the logo on the top left of the page.
    Note: The preview version is only shown to the user that pressed the ‘Preview trial version’ button. Also if you logout and login again, the preview is gone.

  3. Use your history to navigate back to the corporate identity.

  4. Click ‘Publish trial version’ to save the trial version. The status of the published version will now switch to Available.

  5. Alternatively press the ‘Discard trial version’ if you don’t like the new settings.

After viewing the trial version, the button Preview trial version will change into Publish trial version. It will only be possible to view another trial version after changing at least one of the colors and saving the page by clicking the save icon in the top right corner.

Summary

Exercise

  • Create a new corporate identity by copying the default corporate identity.
  • Change the colors to your liking and add a logo.
  • Publish your corporate identity so that the status of ‘Published version = Available’.
