Booting the Kiosk for the first time
When launching the device, you are presented with 3 options in the boot menu:
Native android mode, which will allow you to set up the kiosk as an android device = preferred
Log in a with a customer google account > download the app from the store and configure through Device Control (see Device Control Platform (Kiosk App & Workplace App)).
Alternatively, go to the Spacewell Appstore and download the Kiosk App (= this means you'll have to manual update when a new version of the app is available). To use the official appstore, make sure to have a gmail account to log in.
Remember users can exit the app in this mode.

Go to Settings for the tablet > Display Settings; you can modify Font Size, Screen size and DPI. Select DPI and set to the lowest value (160) |
2. Elo view provides a big kiosk view, while allowing remote control of the kiosk. The license for this is not sold by Spacewell, so please subscribe with ELO to get these features unlocked.
When you have selected this option, but do not have a license from ELO, you'll get stuck in this mode while the device is waiting for content: The device expects an app to be remotely pushed from the ELOview platform
3. Developper mode, which is not to be used
Although the ELO view license is not sold by Spacewell, you might ask if it's useful to have:
It’s a remote device console where you can set the tablet settings and push our app in Kiosk-mode.
At moment of writing you can get a free trial before deciding whether to buy the subscription to the ELO platform.
The Home page is a dashboard with useful insights about the Kiosks running in your portfolio
From the DEVICES tab, you can add new devices and see the ones you have active in your portfolio
From the CONTENT tab, you can manually upload an APP or set a link to a WEB APP. When our app is updated, you’ll have to manually re-upload and re-drag it to your devices

You will go through a standard Android setup wizard, (similar to a first-time setup of a new smartphone)
Connect to the network during the wizard in order to get an internet connection
You’ll need a Google-account in order to access the Android Playstore and install the kiosk app.

If you skip this step and don’t provide a google account, you can’t use the Playstore. You can still install the Kiosk app through the Spacewell website. However you won’t get automatic updates. |
Android settings before installing the app
Change the Android Display setting
Change the DPI settings of the device before using the Kiosk app. This will improve the scalability of the app
Go to Settings > Display Settings > Advanced > DPI settings > set to the lowest value (often 160)

Enable Screen Pinning
You can lock the Kiosk app to prevent going outside the app.
1. Go to Settings > Biometrics and security > Other security settings > Advanced > Pin windows
2. Open the Kiosk app > open recent apps > Click on the Kiosk app Icon > Select pin this app

Using the Google Playstore
Go to the Android Playstore and search for Spacewell Kiosk

Using the Spacewell appstore
If you can’t find the Kiosk app in the Appstore, go to the spacewell appstore using the Chrome browser installed on the device: Appstore (spacewell.com)
On the Kiosk page of the Spacewell appstore, click on the Android button (image below) to download the Kiosk app on the device. Then install the app manually. When prompted, you will have to approve “unverified .apk installation”.

You’ll need a device account and an admin account in order to log in and install the Kiosk app.

When you select the device, a panel will appear from the bottom. Click on Start configuration. |

Select one or more locations, a Profile and a Theme using the drop down menus. These settings will be pushed to the Kiosk app after you pressed SAVE. You can customize this later at any point. |
