XOVIS WiFi devices' initial configuration (of the WiFi credentials) needs to happen while running a LAN/ethernet connection, and while being able to connect to the target WiFi network. This means that, for the time required for the configuration, a LAN network needs to be available in a location where the target WiFi network is also reachable. |
Mounting instructions
After defining the sensor layout with your Spacewell Consultant, you'll need to install the physical CogniPoint™ XOVIS sensor devices on the ceiling or against the wall. The sensor layout that you defined determines the exact installation location , height and view direction of the sensors, and you must make sure that you install the sensor devices according to the defined specifications.

How to keep track of installation location per device? Best practice is to tape the sticker on the Sensor Plan or take note of the sensor ID (number starting with 4000…= MAC address in format XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX) in an excel at the place of installation. |
To physically install a CogniPoint™ sensor, use following steps.
Option 1: PointGrab powered + connected to the network using Power over Ethernet

Connect the RJ-45 plug and route the Ethernet cable (RJ-45 (Cat 5e cable or better)) through the cable lead clips.

Make sure the view direction arrow is pointing in the required direction. Attach the sensor securely to the adapter (there should be no gaps between the sensor and the adapter). |

Once the sensor is installed it is important to remove lens/sensor cover (Lens cover of full sensor cover is dependent on production batch). Failing to do so will seriously effect sensor functionality. |

Preparation steps (can be done beforehand)
You will need:
WiFi-network name + password (password is not saved, but we generate a PSK = hashed combination of password + network)
Advanced IP scanner (free software)
Power for the PointGrab, either PoE-injector or DC power (12-24V power)
Router or similar to connect the laptop and PointGrab to the same network + PoW injector or external DC power for the PointGrab sensor

How to extract the MAC address and configure the PointGrabs:

Connect a switch to your laptop with ethernet cable and share the internet connection from WiFi to the ethernet connection so that you get DHCP running there. |

Before installation, take a picture of the back of every sensor. This will serve as reference in case of typos in the excel. |
Mounting plate or wall/ceiling mount?
A separate mounting plate and a wall/ceiling mount are available as an accessory.
Installation is possible without an additional plate, depending on the ceiling type. In that case, you can skip step 1.
Fix the mounting plate or wall/ceiling mount onto the ceiling using four M4 screws of your choice. Please define the appropriate screw type depending on the ceiling consistency.

The fixture must be able to carry the fourfold weight of the device, which would correspond to 20N for the sensor. |
Pull the Ethernet cable through the hole in the back of the mounting destination and plug in the sensor.
The LED indicates the following states during installation:
Green: The device is powered by PoE.
Orange or Green blinking: The device is up and running

Make sure to install the plastic cover in the correct way that the LED is still visible. |
Fit the sensor onto the mounting plate and use the two M4x25 Hex lobular socket flanged button head socket screws to fix the sensor.
Remove the dust caps from the sensor lenses (blue/black). Click the cover on the sensor.
After removing the dust cap you can put the white/black cover on the sensor. This clicks into place over 2 little hooks on the side of the sensor.
Quality Assurance
Without the sensor being configured in the Pointgrab XOVIS and Workplace Platform, there is not much you can check.
Next steps

Next steps
After the sensor installation, your Spacewell Implementation Consultant will follow the PointGrab installation, check the height from the floor up to the device (until the cover, if there is one). You’ll need to enter this value in the configuration.
Then follow the Xovis configuration guide, and then will follow the Quality Assurance Occupancy /and Utilization Sensorinstructions to verify the set-up.
