Learning Objectives

After reading this article, you’ll be able to:

  • Deploy the device in the Workplace Platform

  • See data appear in the Workplace end-user tools

This guide focuses on the deployment of XOVIS devices in the Workplace back-end Studio, after Xovis configuration.

Deploy sensors in your Workplace tenant

Note

Only after the next data package is send, data for this sensor will be visible in your tenant. (This means that depending on time of provisioning to your tenant and activity at the customer site, this can take a while.)

Add New Device > Xovis in Studioimage-20240206-105719.pngImage Added
  1. Go to your tenant (https://studio.cobundu.com)

  2. Select the location, where you can manually add a Pointgrab area via "Add New Device"

  3. Select "Xovis" in Device Type

  4. The Device ID is build up from the device MAC address and the Logic ID* that is visible in the XOVIS configuration tool*

    1. MAC address will have has format XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX

    2. logic ID* from XOVIS configuration tool will be a number

    3. concatenate with a hyphen between both (example: 80:1F:12:75:E0:1E-43)

  5. Give a meaningful name: include device name, tenant name (eg tenant_floor number_area)

    1.  Make sure device ID + location are referenced everywhere, so that in Studio you can use the simple search function

  6. Select a Location from the location tree if this is already known (automatically filled in if location was selected before adding new device).

  7. Select a Linked Location when capturing the sum of the data from different footfall sensors (with a different main location), see below explanation on “Multi Entry scenario or Linked Location scenario?”

title* Logic ID from XOVIS configuration tool

Logic ID can be found on the home page of the XOVIS configuration tool.

MAC address + Logic ID will be the device ID for the Studio to be recognized.

For example, if the MAC address of the sensor mentioned below diagram is 80:1F:12:75:E0:1E then the sensor ID in Studio will be 80:1F:12:75:E0:1E-43.

titleWhat happens if multiple logics are configured for the same sensor?

The multiple Logic IDs can be found on the home page of the XOVIS configuration tool.

For example, if the MAC address of this sensor is 80:1F:12:75:E0:1E then the sensor IDs in Studio will be:

80:1F:12:75:E0:1E-40 and 80:1F:12:75:E0:1E-41 and they are linked to their respective locations.

titleMulti Entry scenario or Linked Location scenario?

Multi Entry scenario

  • traffic device 1 linked to location A

  • traffic device 2 linked to location A

  • Location A will gather the sum of traffic data send by devices 1 and 2

Linked Location scenario

  • traffic device 1 linked to location A

  • traffic device 2 linked to location B

  • through Linked Location feature: traffic device 1 + traffic device 2 linked to location C

  • Location C will gather the sum of traffic data send by devices 1 and 2

Quality Assurance

Verify Quality Assurance steps in Quality Assurance Occupancy/Utilization Sensor

Next steps

Once data is flowing into the Workplace Platform, Configure Space monitor.
