VergeSense configuration

Difficulty: expert

Learning Objectives

After reading this article, you’ll be able to:

  • Check the set-up in VergeSense Platform

  • Configure the device to its location in the Workplace Platform

This guide helps to check the configuration of the VergeSense devices on the VergeSens Platform and describes the configuration of VergeSense devices on Workplace back-end Studio.

For a more detailed understanding of the VergeSense Platform, please consult the https://spacewell.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/KB/pages/492301 manual.

Deploy sensors in VergeSense Platform

Link the device IDs from the physical installation to the relevant location in the https://spacewell.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/KB/pages/492301 Installer Tool.

Before linking a new sensor device, the sensor must be powered up and have internet access to the VergeSense cloud (make sure to check the VergeSense hardware and network requirements).

  1. In the https://spacewell.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/KB/pages/492301 > Settings > Installer Tool, choose the relevant floor.
    Select “Device Installation”

  2. Select an area location (remember that a meeting room might need 2 sensors to cover the whole count area)

  3. In the “Enter Sensor ID” field, enter the number that is provided on the sticker on the VergeSense sensor. Serial numbers should be inserted using the following format: XXX-XXX.

  4. Click Confirm and verify that the sensor’s connection status changes to green / the “linked” symbol.

Step 2. Select an area location
Step 3. In the “Enter Sensor ID” field, enter the number that is provided on the sticker on the VergeSense sensor.

You can only link one device at a time.

VergeSense Commissioning

Inform your Spacewell Implementation Consultant when all sensors are installed. They will inform VergeSense through the Notes function on the https://spacewell.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/KB/pages/492301.

VergeSense will check the installation and will either confirm/commission the sensor, or will provide a feedback in the “notes” section of each sensor.

If they leave a note, reposition or re-install the sensor to make sure the sensor is positioned correctly.

Only after commissioning (per location) is finalized (see VergeSense sensor installation), data will be send to the Workplace Platform.

Deploy sensors in your Workplace tenant

Prerequisite

As soon as your VergeSense environment is available, your Spacewell Implementation Consultant will have booked a ticket for the Workplace Dev team to link your VergeSense environment with Workplace through API, as described in https://spacewell.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/KB/pages/127533075.

Add New Device in Workplace back-end Studio

Once a sensor is commissioned, this sensor will be visible in your Workplace environment. You can now map this to a location on the Workplace platform.

  1. Go to your tenant (https://studio.cobundu.com ) and log in

  2. Select the location, where you can manually add a VergeSense area via "Add New Device"

Manually add device through location > devices > new: location is filled in.

‪Select Device Type "Vergesense ". This will automatically link the device channel.

Select the detection area (that has been set up in VergeSense Platform) from the Device ID drop down list. (see https://spacewell.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/KB/pages/492301/VergeSense+Platform+SW+internal#Verify-location-master-data if you cannot recognize the VergeSense area information)

Give a meaningful name (Make sure Room Name and Space Ref. ID are meaningful to you in the VergeSense Platform, so that in Studio you can use the simple search function).

Select a Location from the location tree if this is already known (automatically filled in if location was selected before adding new device).

Linked Locations is not relevant for this kind of sensor.

Selecting the correct Device Type "Vergesense" should automatically set the Type and the Channel to “Headcount” (see Advanced).

For more information on how to add multiple new devices to Studio, check out Configure devices (add, remove, import, and export).

Following excel sheet can be used as an example for batch uploading VergeSense sensors to Studio:

Good to know: there might be more or less physical devices than locations in Workplace

Sometimes

  • multiple sensors are used to cover 1 count area

  • 1 sensor is used to cover multiple count areas

Multiple sensors to cover 1 count area (for example: meeting room too large, needs 2 or more sensors)

1. In VergeSense, multiple sensors might need to be installed to track 1 location (eg if the detection area does not cover the whole room)

2. With overlapping detection areas, VergeSense will stitch these devices together in the platform, to make sure that the combined detection areas of the multiple sensors match the required count area.

3. In Studio, select the VergeSense Area to match the Spacewell location

4. In Spacewell Utilization view, the sum of the people detection count of all the sensors in the area will be presented for the location.

1 sensor to cover multiple count areas (for example: sensor used to track workplace occupancy)

1. A VergeSense sensor might be installed to track multiple locations (eg if the detection area covers multiple desks).

2. VergeSense will partition the count areas from this 1 device in the platform, to make sure that data from the separate count areas is gathered individually.

3. In Studio, select the VergeSense Area to match the Spacewell location

4. In Spacewell Utilization view, the sum of the people detection count per count area will be presented for the location.

Quality Assurance

After sensor configuration, follow the Quality Assurance Occupancy and Utilization Sensor instructions to make sure all use cases are covered.

Next steps

Once data is flowing into the Workplace Platform, Configure Space monitor.
