Troubleshoot Kerlink devices
General
Check the LED lights
Make sure there are not typos in the gateway board ID (verify the ID on the sticker at the back of the device; or follow the steps below)
Check if the hub is connected to the correct network (on the switch)
Are you sure the SIM card is activated with the network provider? (ideally test the sim card in another device)
Check operator details are correct in the configuration
Replace a non-working hub with one that is confirmed working
If, after above checks, the device is still not connecting to the https://spacewell.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/KB/pages/492072, you will want to consider to do a Factory Reset. Please follow the steps below.
f you have checked all the above settings and configurations, and the device is still not connecting to the https://spacewell.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/KB/pages/492072, please reach out to the Spacewell Support team.
Factory Reset
How to do a Factory reset?
Connect the Kerlink to your laptop with an ethernet cable
Open Kerlink platform (Depending on the gateway model, you have to visit another URL; see above)
In tab Gateway, select action Factory Reset by applying button "reset gateway". Confirm the action in the pop-up. You’ll see a progress bar at the top of your screen.
The button "reset gateway" in underneath Factory Reset now changed in "reboot gateway": select and confirm the action in the pop-up.
What to do after a Factory reset?
Connect the Kerlink to your laptop with an ethernet cable
Open the network settings of your computer (right click on wifi icon)
Go to "change adapter options"
Right click on "WIFI" > select "Properties"
Select tab "Share" and tick the first box (other network users can use your wifi connection)
Specify which internet port/ethernet port you want to share the wifi network to
WiFi properties should look like this now:
Open Kerlink platform (Depending on the gateway model, you have to visit another URL; see above); there you can see the IP address
if you changed the password in the mean time, remember that the factory reset also does a password reset
If you don't have Putty yet, make sure to install Putty from Download PuTTY - a free SSH and telnet client for Windows
In Putty: copy paste the IP address that is mentioned on the Kerlink Platform under “Application”. Best practice is to use port 22
Confirm you want to access the device (a black screen like in the screenshot below will open)
Enter "root"
Enter password that you get from the Spacewell Hardware team (The password they will provide includes (but is longer than) the last 6 digits from the Board ID that are written on the device; this password is case sensitive)
in Putty, passwords are not shown, so the cursor will not move while you type
Enter "klk_apps_config --activate-cpf --lns-server spacewell.eu1.cloud.thethings.industries --lns-dport 1700 --lns-uport 1700" (copy paste does not work; but right click in putty acts like paste)
Enter "reboot" in Putty for the actions to be committed. The Gateway will restart.
Make sure to disable sharing your network in your computer's network settings after your work is done
12. Remember that you have now truly “factory” reset your device, so any configuration that you had done before, you will need to repeat (see “Hub Configuration > Activation steps)
When you do Factory Reset on multiple devices, you might want to use this workflow
Open the network settings of your computer (right click on wifi icon) and specify which internet port/ethernet port you want to share the wifi network to, as described above. You do this once.
Perform factory reset + follow the steps after factory reset (3-10) + follow activation steps on all the devices
At the very end, when you have configured the last device: Make sure to disable sharing your network in your computer's network settings after your work is done
How to find the device EUI
What to do if neither device nor shipment box give the correct device EUI?
Connect the Kerlink to your laptop with an ethernet cable
Open the network settings of your computer (right click on wifi icon)
Go to "change adapter options"
Right click on "WIFI" > select "Properties"
Select tab "Share" and tick the first box (other network users can use your wifi connection)
Specify which internet port/ethernet port you want to share the wifi network to
Open Kerlink platform (Depending on the gateway model, you have to visit another URL; see above); there you can see the IP address
f you don't have Putty yet, make sure to install Putty from Download PuTTY - a free SSH and telnet client for Windows

Enter "cat /tmp/sys_startup_status.json" in Putty to find the correct Device EUI (copy paste does not work; but right click in putty acts like paste)
Enter "reboot" in putty for the actions to be committed. The Gateway will restart.
Make sure to disable sharing your network in your computer's network settings after your work is done
